When Pocahontas is ten years old, three English ships appear. The Powhatans have never seen anything like them. The Englishmen begin chopping down trees. They build a fort, a church, and little houses. The call their new town Jamestown. Some Powhatans trade corn to the strangers. They get pretty glass beads, bells, and little mirrors.
