As with the first edition, the focus of this book is practical, and the principal intended audience is primary care physicians, including internists and family practitioners. Nurses and physicians assistants are also invited, as are surgeons and specialists (including neurologists). With the exception of a few chapters addressing particular symptomps or diagnostic procedures, each chapter is disease specific and adheres to a standar format, beginning with Essentials of Diagnosis—wherein a puzzled clinician can get an up-front sense of being in the right ballpark—followed by sections on Symptoms and signs.
