Many people think Henry Ford invented the automobile. He didn't. He was just one of many inventors to build a car in the 1890s. But years later, Henry built a very special car. It was called the Model T. It was the first car that the average American could afford. The Model T changed the way Americans lived. When Henry was born, the United States was a country of farmers. Most people didn't travel much. And when they did, they rode in trains or horse-drawn wagons. By the time Henry died, more than half of all Americans lived in cities. They traveled in fast cars along paved streets. Henry helped bring about that change. Along the way, he became one of the world's richest and most famous men.
