Abstrak

The chapters in this volume derive from a panel1 at the second conference of the European Association of South-East Asian Studies, which was held in Hamburg between 3 and 6 September 1998. The intention of that panel, and of this volume, was firstly to highlight the connections between kinship and food in the region, an area of research which would arguably repay more attention from scholars than it has received so far; and secondly to look at certain aspects of this, in particular the relationship between generations set up through feeding
