Abstrak

The story of Javanese and Balinese literature is still in an elementary stage of its development and, up until the present time, has been largely in the hands of philologists whose main concern has been to preparecritical editions and translations of a small number of the hundreds of extant works which span more than a thousand years of literary activity.
